Lots of news about mayors, councils, and sheriffs de-commissioning Flock cameras.

But that's not the story. The story is that the people's so-called representatives commissioned secret surveillance networks without asking permission or communicating intentions, often re-directing funds approved for something else — and they caved only after they were caught, amid intense public scrutiny.

A few hundred or a few thousand decommissioned cameras will make only a small dent in the ~120,000 cameras deployed nationwide.

This is only the beginning.
